PFAS
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), sometimes called PFCs, include thousands of structurally similar fluorinated chemicals, many used commercially, that are present in the environment. Persistence and mobility of some PFAS, combined with decades of widespread use (including in firefighting foams and consumer products), has resulted in PFAS contamination in environmental media at trace levels across the globe.
